BALTIMORE- The Notre Dame of Maryland University volleyball team secured a commanding victory over Washington Adventist University on Tuesday, Sep. 10. The match, held at the MBK Gymnasium, showcased the team's competitive energy as they completed a 3-1 set victory.
NDMU controlled the first two sets of the game with set scores of 25-12 and 25-20. Washington Adventist University, however, battled back and took the third set by a score of 25-22. NDMU refused to let them have the victory and shut out the fourth set 25-9.
The Gators offense was dominated by
Ciarra Bockstie with 10 kills who was closely followed by
Miasia Ferrer and
Emily Gordon both with nine kills.
Natalie Newton led the team in assists once again, registering 19 critical assists. NDMU controlled the serve as
Natalie Newton,
Jade Stewart, and
Izzy Stewart all had three aces each to help lead the Gators to this victory.
Not only did NDMU have a secure offense, they also showcased their competitive defense. The Gators had notable performances from
Paulina Hernandez leading the stats with 17 digs, followed by
Candace Forgach-Aguilar with 12 and
Jade Stewart with 11.
