Immaculata, PA- The Notre Dame of Maryland Men's Soccer Team could not complete a second half rally, falling to Immaculata University by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
The Gators got off to a fast start with
Tassilo Lehmkuhl and
Athanasios Ziliaskopoulos firing shots in the first 10 minutes. The Mighty Macs responded, firing several shots and scoring in the 25
th minute to take a 1-0 lead. NDMU tried to answer back, but several offsides calls foiling scoring opportunities.
Myles Tanksley and
Elija Hanrieder each launched shots in the final five minutes, but NDMU could not find an equalizer before the half.
The Mighty Macs started the second half with a bang, scoring in the 47
th minute to take a 2-0 advantage. NDMU battled back, scoring in the 65
th minute. The Gators fired a corner kick and, in the aftermath, Lehmkuhl found Athanasios for a goal, cutting the deficit down to one. NDMU fired several shots over the next 25 minutes but could not score a second goal, eventually falling 2-1.
WHO'S NEXT
The Gators will remain on the road, traveling to face Gallaudet University on Saturday, Sept. 14. The kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
