BALTIMORE- The Notre Dame of Maryland Men's Soccer team opened United East play by putting on their best performance of the season, defeating Bryn Athyn College by a score of 3-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
The Gators got off to a fast start, scoring in the second minute to take an early lead.
Carter Hafez drove a perfect cross in front of the goal and
Hector Alvarez redirected the cross into the back of the net for his second goal of the season. The Gators maintained their momentum from the early goal and added on to their advantage in the 18
th minute.
Elija Hanrieder sent a ball forward allowing
Tassilo Lehmkuhl to run under it. Lehmkuhl caught the Lions goalkeeper off his line, blasting a shot over him and into the back of the net. Three minutes later, NDMU would strike again.
Athanasios Ziliaskopoulos fired a ball toward the goal and Alvarez redirected at the last second, netting his second goal of the game.
NDMU remained in control of the run of play throughout the next 70 minutes creating multiple scoring opportunities that resulted in 12 shots including seven on goal. Meanwhile the Gators defense kept the Lions off-balance, preventing any quality scoring chances.
Mateo Gularte made four total saves, earning NDMU's first shutout of the season.

The Gators will continue conference play, traveling to face Cairn University on Saturday, Sept. 28. The kick-off is scheduled for 3:30 PM
