Women's Basketball finishes 76-57 to Penn State Brandywine

Media, PA. - The Notre Dame of Maryland University Women's Basketball team traveled to Media, PA matching up against Penn State Brandywine, Natty Lions for a regular season conference game. Starting off the first quarter with PSU Brandywine winning possession of the jump ball quickly putting on NDMU's defense. Giving the Gators their first point was guard #1, Amya Durham with a 3 point jump shot followed by another 3 point shot by #23, Bethani Newbold assisted from #21 Allison Holman putting the Gators at a 7 point lead. PSU was given a shooting foul and Notre Dame's #23 Bethany Newbold, won the fast break rebound driving it down the court for the layup. NDMU kept the fight going, finishing out the first quarter with a 12 point lead. 

 

NDMU started off the 2nd quarter with a open pass from #1 Amya Durham to #10 Madiosn Simmons giving the Gators a 3 point jump shot, followed by another 3 point shot from #1 bringing the score 25-12. 6 minutes into the game. Both defenses were going head to head battling it out until #10, Allison Holman gets the steal from PSU driving it down the court to #3, Elena Rodriguez for the follow through. Brandywine calls a timeout with 2 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, NDMU 45 - Brandywine 26. 

 

After the half, Brandywine came out with a strong defense but Notre Dame still kept up the fight, shooting a 3 point jump shot in the first 2 minutes. The Natty Lions and Gators keep clawing at each other with just 10 seconds left on the shot clock, Elena Rodriguez #3 makes a layup for NDMU bringing the score 51 Gators, 37 Lady Lions. 

 

In the 4th quarter the Gators blocked the fast break from Brandywine giving them possession with 6 seconds on the shot clock along with a shooting foul, bringing the score 66- 43. Final 2 minutes of the game both teams fighting to the finish #3 for Notre Dame shoots the final 3 point shot bringing the final score 76-57. The Gators are back in action Monday January 6, 2025 at MBK Sports Complex in Baltimore, MD.
