Baltimore, MD – The Notre Dame of Maryland volleyball team put together a dominant performance on Tuesday night, sweeping Wilson College 3–0 (25–13, 25–23, 25–19) at the Marion Burt Knott Sports Complex. The Gators improved to 8–4 overall and 1–1 in United East play, while Wilson dropped to 0–14 (0–2).
Notre Dame's attack was paced by
Kaliyah Brown, who was nearly unstoppable at the net with 12 kills on a .500 hitting percentage.
Myla Palmer added seven kills, and
Rosemary O'Brien was efficient with four kills on just eight swings. The balanced offense helped the Gators post a .167 team hitting percentage compared to Wilson's .028.
Setter
Alyson Lackovic directed the offense with 19 assists and chipped in a service ace, while
Shelbey Willson dished out 13 assists and added two aces of her own. Defensively, the Gators were anchored by
Izzy Stewart and
Carissa Tanseco, who combined for 24 digs, helping Notre Dame control extended rallies.
Wilson kept things close in the second set, pulling within two points late, but the Gators' composure and steady attack secured the frame. In the final set, Notre Dame used strong serving and timely kills to close out the sweep.
With the win, the Gators evened their conference record and will look to build momentum as they host non-conference Penn State Mont Alto on Thursday, October 2 at 7 PM.
