Lehmkuhl Shines in NDM Win Over Cairn 3-1

BALTIMORE, MD — Notre Dame of Maryland put together one of its most complete performances of the season on Saturday afternoon, earning a 3–1 conference victory over Cairn University at Alumnae Field.

The Gators (2–6–3, 2–2–1 CSAC) struck early and never looked back behind a brace from Tassilo Lehmkuhl and a strong defensive effort anchored by goalkeeper David Von Mentlen.

Lehmkuhl opened the scoring in the 13th minute, slotting home a finish off an assist from Athanasios Ziliaskopoulos to give Notre Dame of Maryland a 1–0 lead at halftime. He doubled the advantage in the 55th minute, converting from close range after a setup by Aaron Reynolds for his team-leading sixth goal of the year.

Cairn answered less than a minute later through Fah Diomande, but the Gators quickly restored control. Defender Martin Rasiwala sealed the win in the 78th minute with his first career goal on a free kick shot from 60 yards away to push the margin to 3–1.

Von Mentlen was superb in goal, finishing with nine saves on 25 Cairn shots to earn his second win of the season. Lehmkuhl led the Gators' attack with two goals on two shots, while Pedro Lima and Myles Tanksley each added multiple efforts on frame to pressure Cairn's defense.

Notre Dame (MD) totaled 11 shots and eight on goal while limiting Cairn to just one score despite 10 shots on target.

The Gators continue their United East Conference schedule after a week of rest when they travel to Keystone College on Saturday, October 18 at 2 PM.
