BALTIMORE, MD – Notre Dame of Maryland battled throughout Tuesday afternoon's United East Conference matchup but fell 6–0 to visiting St. Mary's (MD) at Alumnae Field.
The Seahawks (7–5–1, 4–0–0 United East) built a 3–0 lead by halftime and added three more in the second half, pulling away behind a balanced offensive attack. Jack Nelson opened the scoring in the 19th minute, followed by goals from Xavier Lewis and a team tally to make it 3–0 at the break.
Notre Dame (1–6–3, 1–2–1 United East) generated several strong chances, including a first-half effort from Kim O'Sullivan that sailed just wide and a penalty kick in the 56th minute that was stopped by St. Mary's keeper Jordon Eckman. Theo Miras took the attempt, marking the Gators' best scoring opportunity of the afternoon. Tassilo Lehmkuhl led the Gators with two shots, one on target, while Miras added one shot on goal.
Goalkeeper David Von Mentlen made five saves across both halves for the Gators, facing 21 total shots from the visitors.
Notre Dame returns to conference play this weekend with another home matchup as they host Cairn University on Saturday, October 11 at 1 PM.
