BALTIMORE, MD – Notre Dame of Maryland battled throughout the evening but fell in straight sets to Lancaster Bible College, 3–0 (25–17, 25–22, 25–11), in United East Conference play Wednesday night at the Marion Burk Knott Sports Complex.
Junior
Myla Palmer led the Gators' attack with 13 kills on 38 attempts, while
Kaliyah Brown added six kills and two service aces. Freshman
Alyson Lackovic contributed an efficient effort with three kills on six swings (.500) and also tallied three aces and 14 digs to lead the defensive effort.
Setter
Shelbey Willson dished out nine assists and picked up five digs, while
Izzy Stewart added four assists and nine digs. At the net,
Gwen Abnett and
Rosemary O'Brien each recorded blocks for the Gators.
Despite a strong push in the second set where Notre Dame trailed by just three points late, the Gators were unable to overcome Lancaster Bible's .287 team hitting percentage and balanced attack led by Lea Sareyka (13 kills) and Madison Reap (10 kills).
Notre Dame (9–5, 1–2 United East) returns to action this weekend as it continues conference play on the road at Cedar Crest on Saturday, October 11 at 1 PM.
