BALTIMORE, Md. – A hot shooting second and third quarter propelled the Notre Dame of Maryland University women's basketball team to a 60-52 win over Penn State Brandywine on Saturday afternoon.
Amani Watts had 23 points for the Gators (10-12, 8-5 UE) with 11 points from
Bethani Newbold pacing NDMU, who was looking to secure a playoff spot.
Watts was 8-for-10 from the field including a 7-for-10 performance from the line. She also grabbed nine rebounds and had three steals and two blocks.
Amya Durham had five steals on the afternoon, as the Gators rallied from a 14-7 first quarter deficit but still trailed 22-20 at intermission.
In the third quarter, the Gators outscored the Nittany Lions (2-18, 1-11 UE) 21-14 and led by as much as 13 in the fourth quarter on the way to the win.
Durham, who was honored along with Newbold and Elena Rodriquez prior to game on Senior Day, had seven assists and five steals.
PSU-Brandywine was led by Sierra Diawara who had 18 points and 15 points from Analyah Allen.
The Gators host PSU-Harrisburg on Wednesday.
