BRYN MAWR, PA – The Notre Dame of Maryland women's soccer squad fell on the road in their season opener, dropping a 6–0 decision on the road at Bryn Mawr.
The Owls set the tone early, scoring three times in the opening half and never looking back. Lourdes Sankar opened the scoring in the 13th minute, and forward Rece Anton struck twice before halftime to give Bryn Mawr a 3–0 advantage at the break.
Despite the deficit, the Gators battled through 90 minutes with goalkeeper
Makaylah Reyes turning in a strong performance under pressure. The sophomore keeper recorded 12 saves while facing 26 total shots from the Owls' attack.
Notre Dame's best look came in the second half when
Tchala Ungwa forced Bryn Mawr's goalkeeper into a save, marking the Gators' lone shot on goal for the afternoon.
Bryn Mawr added three more goals after halftime, including finishes from Adelynn Arroyo, Beatriz Da Silva, and Olivia Terry, sealing the victory.
Numerous freshmen made strong collegiate debuts including
Alex Busick,
Leah Acri,
Tessa Wiles, amd
Sophie Wisniewski, and
Addison Barry.
NDM will look to rebound when they return to action on Wednesday, September 3 at 7 PM to take on Widener University in Chester, PA.
