BALTIMORE, MD – Notre Dame of Maryland men's soccer battled hard on Wednesday night at Alumnae Field but came up just short in a 2–1 loss to Immaculata. The result moves the Gators to 0-2-2 on the season, while Immaculata improves to 1-3-0.
The match started with plenty of action as Immaculata struck first in the 14th minute when Carlos Garcia finished a close range header setup from Jameson Kennedy on a corner kick. The Gators answered just five minutes later, leveling the score at 1–1 after
Athanasios Ziliaskopoulos slotted home with a shot into the top shelf of the net, his second goal of the year as the set piece was helped along by
Tassilo Lehmkuhl.
Immaculata regained the lead in the 39th minute when Matthew Skipper converted a chance, again with Kennedy providing the assist on a corner kick. Despite outshooting the Mighty Macs 5–1 in the second half, Notre Dame couldn't find the equalizer. Ziliaskopoulos and Lehmkuhl both tested the keeper in the closing minutes, but Immaculata's Matteo Paolillo came up with four saves on the night inclduing one in the final seconds of the game to preserve the win.
Goalkeeper
David Von Mentlen made three stops for the Gators, while the defense tightened in the second half to hold Immaculata to just one shot. However, the first-half deficit proved too much to overcome.
