BALTIMORE, MD — The Notre Dame of Maryland volleyball team (4-1) continued its strong start to the season with a decisive 3–0 sweep over Neumann (3-6) on Tuesday night at the Marion Burt Knott Sports Complex. The Gators controlled the match from start to finish, winning by set scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-14
Senior outside hitter
Kaliyah Brown powered the attack with a match-high 19 kills while hitting an impressive .441. She was complemented by
Rosemary O'Brien, who added nine kills on just 12 swings (.667), and
Gwen Abnett, who chipped in seven kills without an error (.538).
Myla Palmer also reached seven kills, giving Notre Dame four hitters with at least that mark.
Setter
Alyson Lackovic orchestrated the offense with 23 assists while also contributing three kills and 13 digs. Defensively,
Izzy Stewart anchored the back row with 17 digs, while Brown and O'Brien added front-line presence with timely blocks.
Notre Dame hit a blistering .364 as a team, nearly doubling Neumann's .189 mark. After a competitive first set, the Gators steadily pulled away, using consistent serving pressure (four aces) and stout defense to close out the sweep.
With the victory, the Gators improve to 4-1 overall, setting the tone as they prepare to head to Washington College over the weekend in Chestertown, MD for a tri-match that also includes Trinity College of Washington D.C.
