Chestertown, MD – September 13, 2025 – Notre Dame of Maryland volleyball came away with a split on Saturday at Washington College, falling in straight sets to the host Shorewomen before bouncing back with a dominant sweep of Trinity Washington.
In the opener, the Gators (5–2) dropped a hard-fought 3–0 decision to Washington College (25–12, 26–24, 25–16).
Myla Palmer led the offense with 9 kills and a .250 hitting percentage, while
Rosemary O'Brien (7 kills, 8 digs) and
Kaliyah Brown (6 kills, 2 blocks) provided solid support. Setter
Alyson Lackovic dished out 13 assists and hit a team-high .444. Despite the strong effort, the Shorewomen's attack proved too efficient, hitting .337 as a team compared to Notre Dame's .125.
Notre Dame regrouped in the afternoon match, sweeping Trinity Washington in convincing fashion (25–14, 25–5, 25–10). Palmer again set the tone with 10 kills on an impressive .471 hitting, while
Morgan Perzan chipped in 9 kills and
Julianna Leatherwood added steady defense at the net.
Aleah Johnson was effective with 7 kills, and
Jillian Shoultz sparked from the service line with 3 aces. Setter
Shelbey Willson directed the attack with 13 assists and 6 aces, helping the Gators hit .211 as a team while holding Trinity to a -.233 mark
With the split, Notre Dame improved to 5–2 on the year and gained momentum heading into a home match against Christendom on Tuesday, September 16 at 7 PM.
