NDM Rolls Past Penn State Schuylkill 4–0

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, PA – Notre Dame of Maryland women's soccer put together a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating Penn State Schuylkill 4–0 behind a balanced attack and steady defense.

The Gators struck early when Leah Acri opened the scoring in the 7th minute, finishing off a feed from Alex Busick. Momentum carried into the late stages of the first half, as Olivia Messercola capitalized in the 39th minute before Madyson Costello added another less than a minute later to give Notre Dame a commanding 3–0 halftime lead.

In the second half, Busick added her second goal of the season in the 59th minute to cap the scoring. The forward was a constant threat throughout the match, firing a team-high eight shots with four on target, while also picking up an assist.

Notre Dame controlled possession and pace, outshooting Penn State Schuylkill 15–5 and holding a 9–4 edge in corner kicks. The Gators' back line stayed organized, limiting the Nittany Lions to just two shots on goal. Goalkeeper Leah Hasberry was solid between the posts, collecting two saves for the shutout.

Messercola and Costello also chipped in with strong offensive efforts, each finding the back of the net once, while Laura Lang and Acri added quality looks to keep the pressure on.

The Gators' defensive discipline was highlighted by keeping Schuylkill off the scoreboard despite late pressure, with Hasberry stopping a dangerous effort in the 68th minute to preserve the clean sheet.

Notre Dame improves its early-season form with the convincing road victory and will look to carry the momentum into a streak of four home games in a row starting with Juniata on Wednesday, September 17 at 4 PM.
