Notre Dame of Maryland Falls to Juniata 3–1

BALTIMORE, MD — The Notre Dame of Maryland soccer team battled hard at Alumnae Field on Wednesday night but came up short against Juniata, dropping a 3–1 decision.

Juniata struck early with goals in the 3rd and 19th minutes to take control in the first half. The Gators fought back after the break, as a brilliant goal from Madyson Costello as she hit a long range shot into the back of the net after a cross from Alex Busick in the 55th minute to cut the deficit to 2–1.

The Eagles, however, responded with a goal in the 69th minute to restore their two-goal lead, ultimately sealing the match.

Notre Dame goalkeeper Leah Hasberry had an outstanding night between the posts, registering nine saves to keep the Gators within striking distance including a trio of diving saves in the second half. Offensively, Costello and Busick provided the team's two shots on goal, with Costello netting her first of the season.

Despite being outshot 24–2 and facing 14 corner kicks, the Gators showed resilience in the second half, pressing forward to create scoring opportunities.

The loss drops Notre Dame to 1–4 on the season, while Juniata improves to 4–2–1. The Gators will look to regroup as they continue non-conference play as they host Penn State-Altoona on Wednesday, September 24 at 4 PM.
