Abington, PA — Notre Dame of Maryland men's soccer dropped its United East opener on the road, falling 4–0 to Penn State Abington at Memorial Field.
The Gators (0–5–2, 0–1 UE) held Abington scoreless through the first 15 minutes, but the hosts broke through in the 17th minute on a goal from Shawn Dixon. A second tally from Liame Attis before halftime sent Notre Dame into the break trailing 2–0.
Abington extended its advantage early in the second half, with Hugh Nungessor and Aramis Shire finding the back of the net to seal the 4–0 result.
Notre Dame was limited to three shots on the afternoon, coming from
Aaron Reynolds,
Pedro Lima, and
Jefferson Da Silva. Reynolds and Lima each recorded first-half chances, while Da Silva's effort in the 37th minute sailed just high.
In goal, the Gators split time between
David Von Mentlen and
Gabriel Gendarme, who each registered one save across their respective halves of action.
Defensively,
Carter Hafez and
Martin Rasiwala went the full 90 minutes, while midfielders
Tassilo Lehmkuhl and
Theo Miras provided steady minutes in transition.
Notre Dame will look to regroup as United East play continues next week as they host Lancaster Bible College on Wednesday, October 1 at 2 PM.
