STAUNTON, VA – Notre Dame of Maryland men's soccer earned its second draw of the season with a hard-fought 0–0 result on the road against Mary Baldwin on Saturday afternoon at SMA Worth Field.
The Gators (0-1-2) created scoring chances throughout the match, finishing with seven shots, three of them on goal. Athanasios Ziliaskopoulos led the attack with three attempts, including one on target, while Tassilo Lehmkuhl added two shots and forced a first-half save. Cooper Thompson nearly broke through in the 51st minute, but his low effort was denied by Mary Baldwin goalkeeper Tucker Speak.
Goalkeeper Mateo Gularte anchored the back line with a four-save performance, recording his first shutout of the season. Defenders Martin Rasiwala, Carter Hafez, and Jefferson Monroy all played key minutes to keep the Fighting Squirrels off the scoreboard.
The contest turned physical late, with six cautions and one red card issued in the second half. Despite playing down a man after the 84th minute, the Gators' defense held strong to secure the result.
Mary Baldwin (1-2-1) outshot Notre Dame 10–7 and earned eight corner kicks, but Gularte and the Gators' back line denied every opportunity.
Notre Dame returns to action next week looking for its first win of the season as they host Immaculata on Wednesday, September 10 at 4 PM.
