BALTIMORE, MD – The Notre Dame of Maryland volleyball team improved to 3–1 on the season with a dramatic 3–2 victory over Eastern Mennonite on Saturday afternoon at the Marion Burt Knott Sports Complex in a three hour marathon match.
The Gators opened strong with a 25–22 win in the first set before dropping the next two (25–15, 25–23). Facing elimination, NDMU rallied to claim the fourth set 25–21 and sealed the match in the decisive fifth, 15–11.
Sophomore Rosemary O'Brien led the attack with 13 kills while hitting .333, adding two solo blocks and a block assist for 15.5 points. Myla Palmer added 10 kills and three block assists, while Emily Gordon provided 10 kills at a .296 clip.
Setter Alyson Lackovic orchestrated the offense with 40 assists and chipped in 11 digs, while Izzy Stewart anchored the defense with a team-high 26 digs and three service aces. Kaliyah Brown contributed across the board with nine kills, 15 digs, and four aces.
The Gators finished with 54 kills and 15 service aces, outlasting the Royals in a match that featured 15 tie scores and seven lead changes.
With the win, Notre Dame (3–1) continues its strong start to the season and will look to carry momentum into its upcoming home match against Neumann University on Tuesday, September 9 at 7 PM.
