Strong Start Leads Gators to Big Win Over Brandywine 74-44

BALTIMORE, MD - A dominating first quarter led the Notre Dame of Maryland Gators to a 74-44 win over Penn State Brandywine as the Gators improve to 4-1 in United East Conference play.

The Gators were nearly flawless in the first quarter, taking a 24-2 lead after the opening 10 minutes of play. The Nittany Lions were able to stabilize from there, but the Gators were able to make 28 free throws down the stretch to hold off any chance of a comeback.

Amani Watts led the way with 19 points and nine rebounds. Raina Burns provided a strong game with 16 points while Alia Austin added 13 points. Madison Simmons filled the stat sheet with eight points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals as the guard was productive on both sides of the court.

The Gator defense held Brandywine to 28% shooting from the floor as none of the visiting players scored double-digit points.

Notre Dame will stay home for their next game as they host Wilson College on Wednesday, January 21 at 7 PM.
