Gators Hold Off Wilson For Third Straight Win

BALTIMORE, MD - Notre Dame of Maryland pulled away in the second half to earn a 75–58 United East victory over Wilson College on Wednesday night at the MBK Athletic Complex.

After a tightly contested first half that featured 12 ties and 11 lead changes, the Gators (9-7, 5-1 United East) took control after the break, outscoring Wilson 44–30 over the final two quarters to secure the conference win.

The game was knotted at 17–17 after the opening quarter and remained close into halftime, with Notre Dame carrying a slim 31–28 edge into the locker room. Wilson briefly seized momentum early in the third quarter, but the Gators responded with a decisive run behind their interior presence and defensive pressure. Notre Dame outscored the Phoenix 19–14 in the third quarter to stretch the lead to eight entering the final period.

The fourth quarter belonged entirely to the Gators. Notre Dame opened the frame with an aggressive push in transition, using back-to-back fast-break layups to ignite a 16–2 run that ballooned the lead into double figures. From there, the Gators never looked back, shooting over 53 percent in the quarter while holding Wilson to just 16 points.

Amani Watts led the way with a dominant performance, finishing with a game-high 22 points and 14 rebounds off the bench. Allison Holman added 13 points, while Marecia Barnett chipped in 12 points, including three three-pointers. Notre Dame's depth proved to be the difference, as the Gator bench outscored Wilson 46–8.

Wilson was led by Leah Laubach's 16 points, while Jewels Torres added 12, but the Phoenix struggled to keep pace in the second half as Notre Dame capitalized on turnovers and controlled the glass.

With the win, Notre Dame of Maryland sits in third place for the conference standings with half of the conference schedule completed. The Gators will next travel to Keystone College on Saturday, January 24 at 3 PM. Keystone currently sports a 3-16 overall record and are 2-7 in the conference standings with wins against Cairn and Valley Forge. The Gators are 9-14 against Keystone since 2011 as the two teams split a pair of regular season games last season.
