Men's Soccer Continues Winning Ways with 4-0 Victory over Brandywine

BALTIMORE - The Notre Dame of Maryland men's soccer team picked up their second successive win and clean sheet this afternoon, defeating Penn State Brandywine 4-0 at the Turf Field Sponsored by the SSNDs.

The win and clean sheet streak is the first for the Gators since 2023, when the first two wins in program history were both shutouts.

A physical game that saw half of the game's fouls committed in the opening half-hour also featured the Gators ripping off 11 shots at the Nittany Lions goal.

NDMU found the breakthrough goal in the 37th minute, when Carter Hafez's cross found Nadim Ismaeel in the box, who fed the ball to Matteo Rovani as the Italian converted past the Nittany Lions goalkeeper.

The Gators doubled their lead in the 62nd minute when Martin Rasiwala assisted Athanasios Ziliaskopolous.

Rasiwala would get on the scoresheet himself just three minutes later, doing so on a free kick from just inside the halfway line. The looping ball, coupled with the sun and a screen by Ziliaskopolous, saw the defender score for the second match in a row.

The Gators wrapped up scoring in the 88th minute, when a Rasiwala free kick and a Myles Tankley pass found Johan Gertenbach, who scored the first goal of his collegiate career.

For the match, the Gators had 36 shots to the Nittany Lions' two and 12 shots on target to the visitors' zero.

The Gators improve to 3-3-2 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. They are back in action this Saturday to host Penn State Berks.
