Gators Fall to Table Topping Seahawks 64-49

BALTIMORE, MD — Notre Dame of Maryland fell to United East leader St. Mary's (MD), 64–49, on Tuesday night at the MBK Athletic Complex.

The Gators kept pace early, trading baskets in the opening quarter before St. Mary's built a 19–13 advantage after one. Notre Dame continued to battle defensively in the second period, but offensive struggles and turnovers allowed the Seahawks to extend the margin to 31–19 at halftime.

Notre Dame showed resilience coming out of the break, matching St. Mary's with 14 points in the third quarter. Alia Austin sparked the offense with strong finishes in the paint, while Marecia Barnett and Allison Holman helped generate scoring opportunities as the Gators attempted to cut into the deficit. However, St. Mary's maintained control heading into the final quarter with a 45–35 lead.

In the fourth, Notre Dame continued to compete but was unable to overcome St. Mary's defensive pressure and transition scoring. The Seahawks capitalized on turnovers and timely perimeter shooting to stretch the lead, securing the 64–49 victory.

Austin led Notre Dame with 13 points, while Barnett added nine points and two steals. Amani Watts recorded a double-digit rebounding effort with 10 boards to anchor the Gators on the glass.

Notre Dame of Maryland drops to 11–9 overall and 7–3 in United East play and will look to bounce back as conference action continues on Saturday, February 7 when they host Penn State Berks at 3 PM. The Nittany Lions are 3-19 overall on the year and 2-8 in conference play.
