ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Notre Dame of Maryland University baseball team battled back from a 7-0 deficit to knot the score at 9-all, before homestanding Eastern (17-7) scored one run in the bottom of the eighth in a 10-9 win over the Gators (4-17) on Tuesday.
The Gators scored four runs in the sixth, one in the seventh, and four in the eighth in the rally before falling short.
Brennan Deremeik had three hits with three RBI, while
Tyler Holton and
AJ Williams each had two hits in the contest. A total of seven Gators hit safely on the day.
Ryan Parks started the day and went five innings, striking out one and walking three, while
Zane Cook went three innings in relief, fanning three and walking three.
Trailing 7-0 heading into the sixth, the Gators got on the board when Chase Cichoski scored on a throwing error.
Tyler Holton then singled through the right side, scoring Deremeik and
Ben Boyer.
Logan Ward would later score on a wild pitch.
In the seventh, Deremeik singled to short, allowing
Brayden Valle to score on a throwing error.
In the eighth, Ward would score on an RBI single by Williams. A three-run double by Deremeik to center scored Cichocki, Williams, and Holton.
Notre Dame will host PSU-Abington on Wednesday at Joe Cannon.
