Big Seventh Inning Lifts Gators to 13–8 Conference Win

HANOVER, Md. – The Gators showcased an impressive offensive performance, tallying 16 hits and 13 runs to defeat conference rival PSU-Abington, 13–8.

The Gators jumped out to an early lead in the first inning, opening with three consecutive singles. Hunter Beil drove in Chase Cichocki to get the scoring started, while Brennan Deremeik and Ben Boyer each added RBI fielder's choices to extend the advantage to 3–0.

After three scoreless innings for the Nittany Lions, Jaxon Horvath lifted a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning to put PSU-Abington on the board.

The Gators responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning. Mark Reineke delivered a two-RBI single, and Brendan Altman followed with a two-run single of his own to stretch the lead to 7–1.

PSU-Abington chipped away between the fifth and sixth innings, plating three runs to cut the deficit to 7–4. The Nittany Lions continued their push in the seventh, using a pair of singles and a double to bring in two more runs and make it a one-run game at 7–6.

The Gators answered in the bottom of the seventh, erupting for six runs on multiple hits to take control at 13–6. Beil and Boyer highlighted the inning with two-run doubles each.

PSU-Abington added two runs in the eighth inning, but the comeback fell short as the Gators secured the 13–8 victory.

Beil led the offense, going 3-for-6 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Holton added three hits and two runs scored, while Reinecke, Deremeik, and Altman each contributed two RBIs.

On the mound, AJ Williams got the start and turned in a solid outing, allowing four hits and three runs over four innings. Rhys Eder earned the win in relief, tossing three innings. Brysen Keithley and Brendan Coulson combined to close out the game.

The Gators will look to carry this momentum into Monday, April 6, when they face Rosemont in a conference doubleheader.
