OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Notre Dame of Maryland University baseball team rallied to take a 10-9 lead in the ninth, only to see PSU-Abington plate two in the bottom of the ninth as the Nittany Lions (19-8, 6-3 UEC) eeked out a 11-10 win over the Gators (5-18, 2-4 UEC) on Tuesday.
Mark Reineke and
Brennan Deremeik each had three hits on the day, while
Ryan Parks had two hits for the Gators.
Hunter Beil had four RBI, including a three-run home run in the third inning.
Trailing 9-5 heading into the eighth, Notre Dame plated one run in the inning on a RBI double by Reineke that scored Parks.
In the ninth,
Tyler Holton walked with the bases loaded to score
Zane Cook. Parks then walked to score Deremeik, before a free pass to
Chase Cichocki scored
Anthony Venable to tie the score at 9-all
Another walk, this time to Beil, scored Holton for the 10-9 lead.
Joshua Boyd got the start, going 2.1 innings, striking out one and walking five.
Brayden Valle had two strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work.
Rhys Eder took the loss in relief, fanning one and walking two in two-thirds of an inning.
Notre Dame heads to Owings Mills to take on Stevenson on Wednesday.
