Late Home Run Lifts Gators to Doubleheader Sweep Over Rosemont

KING of PRUSSIA, Pa. - The Gators baseball team secured a sweep of conference rivals Rosemont College this afternoon, winning 10-2 in game one and 13-12 in game two.

Game One- Rosemont College 2 - Notre Dame of Maryland 10

Mark Reineke put the Gators on the board first in the top of the third inning off an error by the Ravens' defense. 

In the fourth inning, Brendan Altman singled to score Hunter Beil to extend their lead to 2-0. 

The Ravens added to the scoring in the fifth inning with a double of their own to drive in one run closing the lead to 2-1.

The Gators bats continued as they scored four runs in the top of the six, highlighted by Reineke's double that brought in three runs to take the lead 6-1.

The Gators offensive slowed down for the next two innings, only to add another four run frame. Zane Cook led the ninth inning with a double to center field, which drove in Beil and Deremeik. Ben Boyer unleashed a two-RBI home run right after to pad their lead to 10-1.

The Ravens scored a lone run in the bottom half of the inning, but fell to the Gators 10-2.

Boyer led the Gators with a 3-for-5, three RBI, and two runs scored performance. Cook, Altman, and Reineke all added two hits each. 

Brayden Valle pitched seven innings earning the win, allowing eight hits and one run. Brysen Keithley pitched the remaining two innings to close out the game. 

Game Two- Rosemont College 12 - Notre Dame of Maryland 13

The Ravens opened the scoring with three runs scored in the first inning. They added two more in the third inning to create a 5-0 lead over the Gators. 

After a slow first five innings, the Gators offense started to get their bats going. In the sixth inning, Cook and Altman doubled to drive in a total of three runs to cut the deficit to 5-3. Holton hit a sacrifice fly which brought in Boyer to come within one run.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Ravens answered back with three runs of their own to extend their lead to 8-4. 

A huge seventh inning for the Gators saw five runs come across the plate, highlighted by Altman's triple to score Boyer. The Gators took the lead 9-8.

The Ravens put together their own four run inning in the bottom of the seventh taking the lead back 12-9. 

Defensive miscues by the Ravens forced 3 runs to come in for the Gators, tying the game at 12 all.

In the top of the ninth inning, Beil launched a go-ahead home run to give the Gators the final lead at 13-12. 

The Ravens could not find an answer as the Gators would win 13-12. 

Altman led the Gators with two hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Boyer added three RBIs and Beil added two hits of his own. 

Ryan Parks earned the win on the mound pitching five innings, allowing six hits and five runs, with four strikeouts. Three additional Gators pitchers made an appearance to close out the remaining three innings. 

The Gators resume play when they square off against Hood College on the road Tuesday.
