Gators Dominate Cairn with Back-to-Back 11-Run Performances

BEL AIR, Md. - The Gators dominated game one (11-3) and game two (11-6) to secure a sweep in their conference doubleheader against Cairn University.

Game One: Notre Dame of Maryland 11 - Cairn University 3

A home run by the Highlanders opened the scoring in the second inning to create a 1-0 deficit for the Gators.

The Gators capitalized in the third inning by scoring six runs. The inning was highlighted by Zane Cook's two-RBI home run to left center to take the lead 6-1.

After a two-RBI single from Brendan Altman, Mark Reineke added his own home run  in the fifth inning to make it 11-1.

The Highlanders scored two runs in the sixth, but it was too much to overcome as the Gators won 11-3.

Multiple players turned in strong performances at the plate. Hunter Beil and Ryan Parks each had three hits, while Reineke added four RBI's.

AJ Williams picked up the win after six innings of work, surrendering three runs on seven hits with three strikeouts. Matthew Murdock came in for relief to close out the last three innings.

Game Two: Notre Dame of Maryland 11 - Cairn University 6

The Highlanders broke open the scoring in the first inning, leading 2-0.

The Gators added three runs in the first inning to answer back and take the lead 3-2. Brennan Deremeik hit a home run to left field to bring in two of those runs.

Chase Cichocki delivered a sacrifice fly and a single in the second and fourth innings to bring in two more runs to create a 5-2 lead.

A few errors from the Highlanders in the fifth inning broke open the Gators' lead even further at 9-2.

Tyler Holton's sixth inning triple drove in one run to lead 10-2. In the seventh inning, the Highlanders hit a solo home run. Beil hit a solo home run of his own for the Gators in the eighth inning to lead 11-3.

The Highlanders attempted a ninth inning comeback, but fell short after only scoring three runs to lose 11-6.

Cichocki and Beil led the Gators in offense with three hits each. Three Gators had two RBI's each.

Brysen Keithley earned his second win of the year by striking out six and only allowing three runs in seven innings. Rhys Eder came in relief to finish the last two innings.

The Gators play Regent University next for a non-conference doubleheader.
