Five First-Half Goals Propels Women’s Soccer Past Penn State Schuylkill

BALTIMORE – The Notre Dame of Maryland women's soccer team's offense started off quickly on Tuesday afternoon against Penn State Schuylkill as the Gators scored five goals in the first half en route to a 5-0 win over the Nittany Lions at the Turf Field Sponsored by the SSNDs.

Taylor Edwards found Alex Busick in the Nittany Lions box, which Busick converted for the opening goal just 88 seconds into the game.

Ava Tippett doubled the Gators lead three minutes later as she carried the ball from the halfway line and slotted past PSU Schuylkill's keeper for her second goal this season.

Sophie Wisniewski's through ball ten minutes later connected with Busick, who completed her brace to make it 3-0.

Busick has four goals on the season, which ranks second in the conference.

Edwards got on the scoresheet herself five minutes later, finishing on her rebound off the Nittany Lions' keeper.

Adrienne Villa wrapped up the scoring, pouncing on a loose ball from a corner kick and putting it into the back of the net.

For the game, the Gators outshot PSU Schuylkill 33-5 and had 13 shots on target.

Leah Hasberry and Emmalee Corbin combined for the shutout as they each played a half between the sticks.
Hasberry recorded a pair of saves while Corbin notched one save.

Ariana Rodriguez was the lone Gator to play all 90 minutes on the pitch this afternoon.

The Gators improve to 2-3 on the season and are back in action on Friday as they host Susquehanna.
