Giants Sweep Gators

LA PLUME, PA - Host Keystone scored a combined 28 runs en route to a doubleheader sweep over visiting College of Notre Dame Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) softball action. The Giants improved to 7-15 overall and 6-6 in CSAC play while the Gators fell to 0-10 and 0-8, respectively.

Keystone was led by Meagan Cunningham's complete-game two hitter in the circle in its 8-0 game one victory. Cunningham struck out 14 Gators and walked just one batter. Notre Dame committed four errors in the first game of the day. Senior Katryn Ellis (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) gave up just three earned runs in five-plus innings of work in the circle.

The Giants got off to a fast start in the nightcap, scoring 19 of their 20 runs over the first three innings en route to a 20-0 win in game two. Cunningham also earned the victory in the second game, allowing two hits while striking our four in four innings. Cunningham also went 3-for-4 at the dish with three RBI and three runs scored.

Notre Dame will travel to CSAC opponent Gwynedd-Mercy on Tuesday afternoon. The doubleheader is set to start at 4 p.m.
