Immaculata Grabs Two From Softball

IMMACULATA, PA - Host Immaculata took two games against College of Notre Dame Friday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) softball action. The Mighty Macs defeated the Gators 11-0 in the first game and followed with a 13-2 victory in the night cap. Notre Dame now stands at 0-12 overall and 0-10 in CSAC play while Immaculata improved to 9-15 and 8-6, respectively.

Junior Erika Brooks (Reisterstown, MD/Franklin) registered two of the Gators three hits in game one with senior Amanda Mitzman (Hanover, MD/Meade) recording the other. Senior Katryn Ellis (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) took the loss in the circle while Melissa Fetter struck out five to earn the complete game win for Immaculata.

 

Although the Gators fell 13-2 in the nightcap, freshman Gabrielle Anderson (Baltimore/Baltimore City) made College of Notre Dame softball history by becoming the first Gator to hit a home run. Anderson's home run led off the top of the third inning with the home run off Immaculata pitcher Val Rutt-Guerriere. Senior Ashleigh Johnson (Centreville, MD/Queen Anne's County) also added an RBI, going 1-for-2 in the game along with a stolen base.

Notre Dame will continue its inagural season with a doubleheader at CSAC opponent Marywood on Saturday.
