Baltimore, MD – College of Notre Dame of Maryland lacrosse scored five goals against #3 seed Centenary College on Friday afternoon.
Allison Terry (Perry Hall, MD/Catholic) paced the Gators with four goals and an assist. Junior Ashley Cumberland (Baltimore, MD/Kenwood) scored three times in the loss. Molly Murray (Aberdeen, MD/Aberdeen) added a goal. Kelsey Kempf (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown) was very impressive with ten groundballs, seven caused turnovers and five draw controls. Nicole Walters (Joppa, MD/Mercy) made 17 saves on the afternoon.
Cumberland put the Gators on the scoreboard with a free position goal just under five minutes into the opening half. Terry gave the Gators a 2-1 advantage just thirty seconds later on a strong drive to goal. The midfield stepped up for a free position shot ten minutes later and again beat the Cyclones’ goalie.
At the 11:25 mark in the first half, Murray made a strong cut to the front of the net and received the ball just steps outside the crease and buried the ball in the back of the net. Cumberland scored Notre Dames final goal of the half three minutes later. Centenary held an 11-5 advantage midway through regulation.
Sophomore Terry recorded her third goal of the game with 8:19 remaining on the clock. Cumberland answered with her third goal of the game with a strong drive to the net, beating multiple defenders. With 1:54 left Terry picked up her fourth goal of the game, bringing her season total to sixty. Notre Dame fell to Centenary 18-8 when the whistle sounded.
