Baltimore, MD – College of Notre Dame of Maryland lacrosse honors its two seniors, Nicole Walters (Joppa, MD/Mercy) and Jill Lieberman (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) before their last regulation season game of the 2011 season. The Gators took in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent.
Allison Terry (Perry Hall, MD/Catholic) paced the offense with six goals. Ashley Cumberland (Baltimore, MD/Kenwood) netted three goals, while Molly Murray (Aberdeen, MD/Aberdeen) added two goals. Sophomore Kelsey Kempf (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown) scored the final goal of the afternoon for Notre Dame.
The Gators and Knights were very well matched the entire first half. Neumann scored three times before Notre Dame cracked the scoreboard. Cumberland picked up the Gators first goal at the 11:47 mark. Terry pulled the Gators to within one goal less than two minutes later. A free position attempt for Notre Dame with 9:27 remaining in the half resulted in a Cumberland goal that tied the game at 3-3. Midfielder Terry scored the final goal of the half with nine seconds remaining on the clock.
Notre Dame scored eight goals in the final thirty minutes of play, but it would not be enough to defeat the Knights. The team leading scorer Terry netted four more goals in the second half. Junior Cumberland scored her third goal of the game ten minutes into the half. Murray and Kempf each beat the the Knights goalie in the final fourteen minutes of regulation. Neumann defeated Notre Dame 18-12.
