Lacrosse earns 19-5 CSAC win over Cedar Crest

The Notre Dame of Maryland University lacrosse team cruised to a 19-5 win over Cedar Crest College on Saturday afternoon on Alumnae Field. The league win moves the Gators to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC), while the Falcons slip to 0-3 and 0-1 in CSAC play.

Junior Molly Murray (Aberdeen) paced the hosts with 2 goals, 3 groundballs, 5 draw controls, and 2 caused turnovers in the Gators’ first conference win of the year, while classmate Allison Terry (Towson/Baltimore Catholic) continued to rack up goals, with a game-high 5 first half tallies.

Freshmen Mary Briggs (Holladay, Utah/Judge Memorial Catholic) and Lindsey Miller (Baltimore/Sparrows Point) split time between the pipes and each recorded 1 save, while ten different players recorded at least a goal for the Gators. Veterans Sam Burley (Cockeysville/ Perry Hall) and Ashley Cumberland (Baltimore/Kenwood) and newcomers Tessa Schwartz (Baltimore/Sparrows Point) and Julicel Crisostomo (Perry Hall) each had two goals, while Rachel Jones (Westminster/Francis Scott Key), Kate Donadio (Reisterstown), and Kelsey Kempf (Huntingtown) each had one goal. Freshman Katie Johnston (Baltimore/Catholic) had one goal and two assists.

The Gators will rest for a week before resuming CSAC play at Centenary College on Saturday, March 24. Opening draw in Hackettstown, N.J. is at 1:00 p.m.
