Lacrosse makes it two in row with CSAC win over Immaculata

Notre Dame of Maryland evened their conference mark to 2-2 with a 16-11 win over Immaculata University.

– Notre Dame of Maryland University tied the game at 14:35 of the first half and scored seven more first half goals to take a 10-3 halftime lead en route to a 16-11 win in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) women’s lacrosse action Saturday. The Gators even their overall and conference records to 4-4 and 2-2, while the Mighty Macs are now 1-8 and 1-3 in league play.

Immaculata made it a 2-0 game early on, with Ashley Cumberland (Baltimore/Kenwood) cutting the Mighty Macs’ lead to 2-1, but the Mighty Macs responded at 18:30, with Katie Cook giving the visitors a 3-1 lead. Notre Dame rattled off seven goals to close the first half, including three more Cumberland goals, three from Molly Murray (Aberdeen), two from Allison Terry (Towson/Baltimore/Catholic), and one from Katie Johnston (Baltimore/Catholic).  

Murray and Cumberland combined for three goals to give the Gators a 13-3 lead at 24:43 of the second half, but Emily Hallett scored on back to back free position attempts to make it a 13-5 game. The Gators got three goals from Terry and Murray to extend their lead back to 16-5, though Immaculata would not go quietly, scoring six goals over the course of the next eleven minutes to make it 16-11 final score.

Murray was Notre Dame’s high scorer, with six goals, with Cumberland adding five scores and Terry finishing with four goals. Terry had a team-high four groundballs, while Kelsey Kempf (Huntingtown) had four draw controls.

Notre Dame is not back in action until April 11, when they host Rosemont College in CSAC play.
