Allentown, Pa. – Notre Dame of Maryland University was swept in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) softball action this afternoon, with Cedar Crest picking up the win in game one 10-2, before earning the 8-0 shutout in the nightcap.
The Gators scored two runs in the top of the fifth, before the hosts took a 5-2 lead in their fifth. The Falcons used another five-run inning to pick up the 10-2 win, before shutting out the Gators in game two to move to 12-10 overall and 5-3 the league. The sweep moves Notre Dame to 1-9 overall and 1-7 in CSAC play.
Cara Corsaro (Manchester/North Carroll) and
Colleen McCauley (Hagerstown/St. Maria Goretti) had hits in the opener, while
Marylu Ortiz (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino) had the lone Gator RBI.
Kirsten Smulovitz (Fallston/Towson Catholic) and
Heather Lancellotti (Perry Hall) each had a stolen base.
Ashley Fallon (Baltimore/Kenwood) was game one’s starter, going four innings, and allowing six hits, with
McCauley pitching 1.1 and giving up five hits.
McCauley started game two, and gave up three hits in 1.2 innings, while
Fallon also allowed three hits in her 2.1 innings.
In game two,
Corsaro lead Notre Dame with two hits, and
Smulovitz,
McCauley,
Ortiz, and Lyndsay
D’Intino (Edgewater/South River) each picked up a hit.
Notre Dame continues CSAC play when they host Immaculata University on Monday, April 9 at Harford Community College.
