Lacrosse Defeats Calvin 8-2 For Second Home Win

Box Score Baltimore, Md. --  Notre Dame of Maryland University defeated Calvin College 8-2 to improve their record to 2-1 on the season.

Playing at Loyola University-Maryland's Lugano Field, the Gators took an early 3-0 lead in the first eight minutes.  Senior Molly Murray (Aberdeen, Md.) knocked in her fourth goal of the season, scoring just 28 seconds into the game.  Senior Alli Terry (Towson, Md./Catholic) then added a goal five minutes later for her seventh of the year.  Sophomore Brittany Peddicord (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) scored her fourth of the year to give Notre Dame the early advantage.

Terry added two more goals in the first half to give her a second hat trick of the season, while Peddicord added her second of the game and senior Rachel Jones (Wesminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) notched her third goal of the year to give the Gators a 7-1 lead at the half.

Sophomore Katie Johnston (Baltimore, Md./Catholic) gave Notre Dame their eighth and final goal of the game on a pass from senior Samantha Burley (Cockeysville, Md./Perry Hall).  Calvin managed to find the net twice in the second half for the 8-2 final score.

With the win, Notre Dame improves to 2-1 on the year and will return to action Monday as they play host to in-state foe Frostburg State University.
