Gators Play Strong First Half, Fall To Neumann

Box Score Baltimore, Md. --  Notre Dame of Maryland University played a strong first half with Colonial States Athletic Conference foe Neumann University but eventually fell to the visiting Knights in the team's CSAC opener.

The Gators kept it close throughout the first half, taking a 7-4 deficit into the break, but Neumann managed to take advantage of a limited Notre Dame bench to power to an 18-5 victory.

After falling behind 4-0 early, Sophomore Brittany Peddicord (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) took a pass from senior Molly Murray (Aberdeen, Md.) to knock in her sixth goal of the season to make it 4-1.

After Neumann extended the lead to 6-1, Murray scored back-to-back goals for the Gators, scoring her fifth season goal unassisted, and followed it up with a goal off a Peddicord assist.

Neumann took a 7-3 lead with another goal before Peddicord added her second of the game and seventh of the season with just one second remaining in the half on a free position shot.

The Knights took control in the second half, scoring eight goals before senior Alli Terry (Towson, Md./Catholic) notched her tenth goal of the year.

The loss evens the Notre Dame record at 2-2 on the year and the team will return to action Saturday as they face CSAC opponent  Cabrini College.
