Lacrosse Celebrates Senior Day With 15-4 Victory Over Centenary College

Box Score Baltimore, Md. --  Notre Dame of Maryland University scored early and often on their way to a 15-4 victory over Colonial States Athletic Conference foe Centenary College to celebrate Senior Day.

Prior to the game, seniors Rachel Jones (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key), Emily Langton (May's Landing, N.J./Holy Spirit), Molly Murray (Aberdeen, Md.), Ebony Rivers (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville), and Alli Terry (Towson, Md./Catholic) were honored.  Terry was also presented with the game ball from Wednesday's 17-10 victory over Hood College, where she broke the school's career goals scored record, notching her 250th career goal.

The Gators opened the game quickly, with Terry scoring her first goal just 11 seconds into the game.  The visiting Cyclones answered 40 seconds later to tie the game at 1-1 in under a minute of play.

The Gators then used the scoring of seniors Terry and Murray to power to a 7-1 halftime advantage.  Terry scored back-to-back goals in a span of 20 seconds to give the hosts a 3-1 lead.  Murray scored her first goal of the game at the 17 minute mark.

Terry added two more goals, scoring with 14:39 and 12:35 left in the half.  Terry chipped in one more goal 46 seconds before the break to give Notre Dame the 7-1 lead.

Terry and Murray were joined by Jones and sophomore Brittany Peddicord (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) in the second half as the team outscored the visitors 8-3. 

Centenary opened the half with energy as they scored 1:18 into the period. The Gators then answered with five straight goals over the next six minutes.  Terry began the rally with her seventh of the game.  Jones added her sixth of the year a minute later. After a 1:30 break between goals, Murray added her second of the day.  Terry added her eighth of the game before Peddicord notched her 19th goal of the season to give the team a 12-2 lead.

Centenary managed to stop the Gators run by scoring their third goal with 21 minutes left in the game.  The senior duo of Terry and Murray each added another goal, with Murray knocking in her 30th goal, and Terry picking up her ninth of the game, and 63rd of the season. 

The Cyclones managed one more goal, and Jones added her seventh of the season to provide Notre Dame the 15-4 conference victory.

Terry improved her school record to 264 career goals.  Sophomore goalkeeper Mary Briggs (Holladay, Utah/Judge Memorial Catholic) returned to record eight saves.

With the win, Notre Dame (7-5 overall, 4-3 in the CSAC) will now travel to Immaculata University Monday for their final conference game of the season.  Today's win secured the Gators an appearance next Saturday in the CSAC Conference Tournament and will face Immaculata.  The winner of Monday's matchup will host on Saturay.
