th minute of the game and sophomore
Sawyer Butto (Wyomissing, Pa./Sacred Heart University) posted one in the 11
th minute.
After the Mighty Macs answered with a goal, junior
Brittany Peddicord (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) scored her first of six goals on the day to give the Gators back a two-goal advantage.
Immaculata then went on a 10-0 run over the next 13 minutes of the first half, taking an 11-3 lead before freshman
Carrie Naylor (Elkridge, Md./Mount de Sales) and Peddicord answered with back-to-back goals and make it 11-5 with four minutes left in the opening period. Immaculata returned the favor to add two goals and take a 13-5 lead at the break.
The visitors added another goal to open the second half, but Butto and Peddicord scored to give Notre Dame life. After another Mighty Mac goal, the Gators went on their own rally, scoring four straight goals, with Butto starting the run while Peddicord notched three straight goals to narrow the deficit by four, making it 15-11.
However, the Mighty Macs finished the final 19 minutes of the game going on a 7-1 run to finish the game, giving Immaculata a 22-12 victory.
The game finished the 2014 season for the Gators, a season that saw the team look to rebuild after losing several key contributors from a playoff squad. The future looks bright as the team expects to have nearly everyone return for next season.
