Box Score 2 Baltimore, Md. Seniors
Ashley Fallon (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) and
Brea Kehr (Dundalk, Md./Bridgewater College) were honored between games as the Notre Dame of Maryland University softball team hosted Baptist Bible College in a Senior Day doubleheader.
Sophomore
Margaret Pedersen (Brick, N.J.) paced the Gators offense as she knocked three hits, including a triple, and tied with Kehr for the team lead in runs batted in. Junior
Tawny Cevora (Norfolk, Va./Lakey Taylor) and sophomore
Morgan Ward (Randallstown, Md./Western Tech) each added two hits along with one double.
Fallon threw four strikeouts in the second game.
After falling 8-1 in the first game, Notre Dame would respond by claiming a 1-0 lead after the first inning. Cevora opened the inning with a double and would then take advantage of an error by the BBC shortstop to score on a ball hit by Kehr.
The Defenders would answer by tying the game, but the Gators would answer with two runs in the second inning. Pedersen knocked her first triple of the season to score freshmen
Daishawna McNeil (Baltimore, Md./Chesapeak) and
Jennifer Whiting (Perry Hall, Md.) to give the hosts a 3-1 advantage.
However, the visitors would tie the score in the third inning, and would add four more runs in the fourth inning, two runs in the fifth inning and one more in the sixth to claim a 10-3 lead. In the bottom of the Gators sixth inning, Ward's double would allow Fallon to cross the plate and Ward would score on ball hit by Whiting, but it wouldn't be enough as BBC captured the 10-5 victory.
The Gators will see a quick turnaround as they visit Immaculata University on Sunday in a makeup game from earlier this season.
