Lacrosse Falls Short To Bard

Box Score Baltimore, Md.  --  Notre Dame of Maryland University's lacrosse team fell to Bard College in a nonconference matchup Tuesday.

Freshman Kirstin McGee (Middle River, Catholic) paced the team with four goals and two assists.  Freshman Megan Morales (Joppa, Md./Catholic) finished with three goals while sophomore Kaitlyn Walter (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) added two.

Junior goalkeeper De'ja Martin (Salisbury, Md./Wicomico) finished with a season-high 12 saves and tied with junior Khamaree Owens (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) for the team's lead with three ground balls.  Junior Brittany Smith (Parkville, Md./Howard Community College) posted six draw controls while Morales notched four.

Bard struck first, scoring 40 seconds into the game, which Morales answered a minute later to make the score 1-1.  The Raptors responded with back-to-back goals, which Morales again answered.  After another Bard goal, Walter and Mcgee tied the game at 4-4 with 10 minutes remaining in the first half.

However, the Raptors would finish the half on a 3-1 run to take a 7-5 lead into the break.

Walter opened the second half to narrow the deficit to 7-6, but Bard again scored again to take back a two-goal advantage.  McGee replied with her second of the day to again narrow the gap.  This time, the guests answered with two goals, pulling ahead 10-7.  Owens found the net for her lone goal of the afternoon, but once again Bard scored back-to-back goals to push their lead back up to 12-8.

McGee tried to swing momentum back to the Notre Dame side by notching her third goal, but the Raptors again responded quickly, this time scoring three straight goals to take a 15-9 lead.  In the final minute, McGee found the net a fourth time, but it wouldn't be enough as the Gators fell 15-10.

Notre Dame falls to 2-3 on the season and will look to bounce back after the conclusion of spring break as they visit crosstown rival Goucher College on Wednesday, March 30.
