Box Score 2 Rosemont, Pa. -- Notre Dame of Maryland University visited Colonial States Athletic Conference rival Rosemont College Tuesday but fell to the Ravens in a softball doubleheader.
Freshman
Madison King (Virginia Beach, Va./Bayside) led the way with four hits and two runs batted in. Freshman
Paola Castillo (San Pedro Sula, Honduras/Escuela International Sampedrana) added three hits and tied with senior
Tawny Cevora (Nofolk, Va./Lake Taylor) by scoring two runs.
Cevora also threw six strikeouts.
Trailing as they entered the third inning, Notre Dame reduced the deficit with two runs. King singled down the left field line to score Cevora and Castillo to make the score 5-2.
Trailing 6-2 going into the fifth inning, the Gators added two more runs to their total. After walking, Castillo scored on a single by freshman
Samantha Kastner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial). Junior
Wendi Winkelman (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco) gave Notre Dame their second run of the inning when she scored on a single to left field by sophomore
Bobbi McDowell (Shady Side, Md./Bishop McNamara).
However, the Ravens added six runs in the bottom of the fifth to capture a 12-4 victory.
In the nightcap, Cevora scored in the third inning. Cevora singled up the middle then scored on an error by the Rosemont shortstop. King would hit the ball that scored allowed her to score.
Unfortunately, Rosemont claimed a 9-1 victory.
The Gators return to action on Friday by travelling to CSAC foe Cabrini College.
