Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Notre Dame softball fell to Gwynedd Mercy in their conference doubleheader Monday afternoon.  The Griffins took game one from the Gators 15-5 and strung together late runs in the second to outlast Notre Dame, 5-3.  In the second game, the Gators went hit for hit against the Griffins, and totaled 16 over the two games.  Notre Dame's game was originally scheduled for Friday afternoon, but was moved due to poor playing conditions.

In the first game, the Griffins notched the first runs of the game, scoring three in the first inning with freshman Hanna Morseman pitching for the Gators.  Gwynedd Mercy capitalized on a 12 run, third inning, to take a 15 run lead over the Gators.  Notre Dame fought back in the final frames stringing together one run in the fourth and four runs in the fifth, but the Griffins completed the third out before the Gators could add anymore.  Freshmen Isa Carunungan and Hanna Morseman and sophomore Lilly Gordon each notched two hits in the game, with Carunungan and sophomore Sammy Kaster recording a double.  Hitting in the DH spot, Gordon had two RBIs and a double.

In the second game, Carunungan singled to score Gordon for the first score of the game at the top of the third inning.  Gwynedd Mercy matched the Gators' score at the bottom inning to see the score tied at one apiece at the close of the third inning.  In the fourth inning, Gordon notched a SAC fly for the Gators to score sophomore pitcher Maddie King to take the lead.  On the next at bat for Notre Dame, senior Morgan Ward crossed the plate off a passed ball, Notre Dame taking a 3-1 lead.  Notre Dame held Gwynedd Mercy scoreless in the bottom of the fifth to hold on to their lead.  In the final two frames, the Gators could not extend their lead, letting the Griffins back in.  Gwynedd Mercy notched four unanswered runs to close out the game.  Notre Dame fell, 5-3.

Four Gators finished the day with three hits, led by Gordon who also had a team high three RBIs.  Gordon and King posted .600 batting averages, both recording a double and four total bases.  In the outfield Carunungan notched three put outs, while also notching three hits and a double at the plate.  Pitching for Notre Dame, Morseman tied her career-high recording five strikeouts.

Notre Dame will see one day off before they are back home as they host Rosemont Wednesday at Coppin State University.  This will be the Gator's last game before the Easter break and their third doubleheader in four days.
