ASTON, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference has recognized sophomore
Megan Morales, junior
Kaitlyn Walter, and senior
De'Ja Martin, naming them to all-conference teams for the 2017 season.
Morales was named to the First-Team All-CSAC for her second-consecutive season. Last season, she was also named CSAC Rookie of the Year. This year, Morales led the CSAC in goals per game (4.33), points per game (5.25), and draw controls per game (7.00). She was named to the CSAC Honor Roll earlier this season and was named CSAC Player of the Week on April 24th. Morales currently holds two top 25 NCAA statistical rankings in draw controls per game and goals per game. Going into their playoff game tomorrow she has over 100 goals for her career and 52 for the season.
Walter received CSAC Honorable Mention recognition, her first of her career. Walter nearly doubled her goal production from her first season, registering 40 this year. She is currently fourth in the conference for goals per game with 3.33 and is eight in assists with 1.08 per game. Walter and Morales have combined for 59.3% of Notre Dame's goals this season.
Martin received CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team recognition for her second consecutive season. In her final season for the Gators, Martin has over 110 saves. For her career, she has 387 saves in goal for Notre Dame. On March 27, she was named to the CSAC Weekly Honor Roll for her performance the previous week. She recorded a career-high 21 saves to help Notre Dame secure a 15-10 victory over Keystone.
The lacrosse team now heads to the first round of the CSAC playoffs, Saturday at Immaculata University. The Gators completed their regular season conference schedule last week with a 5-4 record, finishing fifth in the CSAC. This is Notre Dame's fifth appearance in the CSAC playoffs for lacrosse and second time in three years under Head Coach, Erin DaSilva.
The Gators will face off against the Mighty Macs of Immaculata who finished in the fourth seed in the CSAC. They went 6-3 in conference, dropping games against Cabrini, Marywood, and Neumann who finished first, second, and third, respectively. Earlier this season, the Gators fell to the Mighty Macs 21-13. Notre Dame was within four goals of Immaculata at halftime, 10-6, but couldn't hold on as they lost, 21-13. Freshman Layne Kennedy leads the team with 51 goals and 68 points this season. She was also named CSAC Rookie of the Year and made First Team All-CSAC. Goalie Emily Schumann has 141 saves with a .467 save percentage and was named to the CSAC Honor Roll this week and finished Second Team All-CSAC.
