BALTIMORE, Md. – The Notre Dame softball originally scheduled for Colonial States Athletic Conference matchups Friday and Saturday have been moved to Sunday and Monday. Before strong storms moved through Maryland and Pennsylvania yesterday, the Gators were set to travel to Gwynedd Mercy University Friday and Marywood University Sunday. Notre Dame will now face Marywood Sunday and Gwynedd on Monday.
The Gators are coming off a tough conference loss Wednesday in their doubleheader game against Cedar Crest College. In the first game, Notre Dame challenged the Falcons, but dropped the game 6-3. In the second, they fell 28-7. Freshman
Isa Carunungan paced the team with a .625 batting average, with five hits and four RBIs. She is still leading the CSAC for batting average at .564. Notre Dame is currently 3-10-1 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
On Sunday, the Gators will face the Marywood Pacers first who are currently sitting just above Notre Dame in seventh place in the CSAC. They are 4-2 in the conference, picking up two wins against Rosemont and splitting with Cabrini and Gwynedd Mercy. Kaitlyn Epler leads the team at the plate, registering a .420 batting average with 21 hits and 10 RBIs.
On Monday, Notre Dame will travel to Gwynedd Mercy for their makeup game from Friday. The Griffins are in fifth place in the CSAC, with a 4-2 conference record and 8-10 overall. This season, Gwynedd Mercy swept Clarks Summit and split their doubleheaders against Marywood and Keystone. Freshman Jenna Trythall paces the Griffins at the plate with a .418 batting average. Junior Jessica Behr has four home runs for Gwynedd, while pitcher Alyssa Morales is tied for second in the CSAC for wins with five.
