Lacrosse Comes Up Short at Keystone

Box Score LaPLUME, Pa. – The Notre Dame lacrosse team traveled to Keystone College Saturday afternoon in their second of their three final road conference games.  In their Colonial States Athletic Conference game, the Gators saw several tied scores against the Giants, but eventually fell, 22-17 in the high scoring game.

NDMU opened up the game giving up four early goals to Keystone.  With just under five minutes off the clock, senior Kaitlyn Walter posted the Gators' opening goal, assisted by junior Kirstin McGee.  Junior Megan Morales helped cut the Giant lead to two, scoring an unassisted goal in the next minute of play.

After giving up another goal to Keystone, Notre Dame went on a 3-1 run to get back within one of the Giants.  Keystone charged back, scoring back-to-back goals, jumping back up to a three-goal lead, 8-5 with 15 minutes left in the first half.

A scoreless five minutes of play was ended by the Gators, as they scored three goals (two within a minute) to see the score tied at eight a piece with seven and a half minutes remaining in the half.  The Gators again gave up back-to-back goals, facing a 10-8 deficit with now less than six minutes on the clock.

Senior Khamaree Owens and Morales combined for two goals in the three-minute mark to see the score tied again, this time at 10 apiece.  Keystone answered, closing the door on the first half, scoring three goals in the final two minutes of the first.

After going into halftime down three, 13-10, the Gators could not chip away at the Giants' lead in the second half as they eventually fell by five, 22-17.

Morales led the team in goals with seven and now has 52 this season.  Graduate Student, Brady Wolf led the team in draw controls with eight, with Morales adding six.  McGee posted four goals for NDMU, while also leading the team with two assists.  Wolf, Owens, and Walter each finished with two goals apiece, while sophomore Loren Pardoe recorded her first assists of the season and second for her career.

In goal for the Gators, freshman Marie Salas had another strong outing posting a career-high 24 saves.  This is her third 20+ save game this season and she still leads the CSAC in saves per game (15.36) and save percentage (.514).

Notre Dame has one more road game remaining.  They will travel to Neumann University on Tuesday and then return home Saturday for their season finale on Senior Day.
