ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Notre Dame lacrosse team racked up eight honors in the 2019 Colonial States Athletic Conference End of the Year Awards. For the second time this season, a Notre Dame team nabbed both the CSAC Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors.
Senior
Megan Morales capped off an impressive career at NDMU, earning the CSAC Player of the Year recognition, a first for the lacrosse program. Morales was a dominate force for the Gators, leading the conference in goals, points, shots, and draw controls per game. She currently has 94 goals and eight assists this season alone. Earlier in the season, she scored her 200
th career goal and is one point shy of the 300 career points milestone. In the NCAA, she is second in goals per game, averaging 6.71.
This is Morales' second top honor of her career, earning the 2016 CSAC Rookie of the Year honor in her freshman season. She earned the Rookie of the Year honor in both field hockey and lacrosse.
On top of her Player of the Year honor, Morales was also named to the First Team All-CSAC. In her four season with the team, she has been named to the First Team three times and Second Team once. This season she was named CSAC Player of the Week twice and named to the Honor Roll on three occasions.
Also earning one of the CSAC's top honors was freshman
Julie Hagis, being named the CSAC Rookie of the Year. Hagis is one of the team's top goals scorers this season, being one of three players with 40 goals or more for the Gators. In the CSAC, she is fifth in assists per game, and sixth for points and shots per game. She is second for NDMU in assists per game.
Hagis is one of two student-athletes to be recognized as the CSAC Rookie of the Year in the 2018-19 season. Hagis was also named to the First Team All-CSAC in her first season with the team.
Senior
Kirstin McGee was also named to the First Team All-CSAC, her first postseason recognition of her career. McGee was instrumental in the midfield for the Gators, sitting first in the CSAC in assists per game and 28
th in the nation. She is also second in points per game and 22
nd in the NCAA, and third in draw controls in the CSAC.
In her final season, she has reached several milestones including being named to the CSAC Honor Roll for her first time two weeks ago. Against the Cyclones on April 18, McGee scored her 100th career goal and reached 200 career points. The following week, McGee reached her 100
th career assist milestone in the team's regular season finale win against Rosemont.
Also earning her first career CSAC recognition, junior
Loren Pardoee was named to the Second Team All-CSAC. On the defensive end, Parode sits third for the Gators in caused turnovers, just behind Morales and McGee. She was also integral for the team in transition, helping with clear situations from the defensive to offensive ends.
Pardoe also notched nine goals and one assists, while adding 36 groundballs.
In her second season in goal for the Gators, sophomore
Marie Salas was named to the Second Team All-CSAC. This is her second postseason recognition in her career, being named to the CSAC Second Team in her rookie season. In goal, Salas is first in the CSAC in save percentage at .619 and second in goals against average.
Junior
Hannah Woodworth in her first postseason recognition, was named the team's CSAC All-Sportsmanship honoree. In her first season with the team, Woodworth was fifth for the Gators for caused turnovers and finished her rookie season with 29 groundballs.
The Gators are in the CSAC Playoffs for the first time since the 2017 season. They will travel to Bryn Athyn College for their third meeting of the season. Winner of the playoff game will be in the CSAC Championship on Saturday, May 4. Right now, the Gators have split with the Lions, falling to them on the road to start their CSAC schedule and then defeating them at home on April 10.
