ROSEMONT, Pa. – Five Notre Dame student-athletes nabbed Colonial States Athletic Conference weekly honors after their first week of play, including three newcomers.
 
SOCCER
Freshman Myla Young after her career debut shutout against Gallaudet on Friday was named CSAC Defensive Player of the Week.   Young was instrumental in the Gators' 1-0 double overtime victory under the light against the Bison.  Young racked up 12 saves in the win.
 
Sophomore Julie Hagis also received CSAC honors, being named to the CSAC Weekly Honor Roll.  Hagis notched the game winner for the Gators in the 105^th minute of play, beating two defenders to loft a shot up and over the goalie's head.  This is her first career weekly honor for soccer.

VOLLEYBALL
The volleyball program also notched two weekly honors after going 2-1 in their opening weekend of play.  Senior Kayleigh Davis was named the CSAC Player of the Week, her first of her career.  Last season she was named to the CSAC Honor Roll.  This is her third career weekly honor.  She finished the weekend with 39 kills, 14 aces, and 27 digs.
 
In her first career weekend of play, freshman Ivanella Figueroa notched a CSAC Weekly Honor Roll recognition.  In her career debut against Goucher, she racked up 30 digs while the team finished with 90.  She finished the weekend with 46 digs, two aces, and two assists.

FIELD HOCKEY
Sophomore Maia Giafes helped get the 2019 field hockey season started, scoring the team's opening goal against Southern Virginia University on Saturday.  The team went on to defeat the Knights 3-0, while Giafes earned her first CSAC Weekly Honor Roll recognition.  She finished the weekend with three shots and one game winning goal.
