Senior Spotlight: Loren Pardoe

BALTIMORE, Md. – The third Senior Spotlight is a dual sport student-athlete participating in lacrosse and soccer here at NDMU. As a Maryland native from Linthicum, Loren Pardoe will graduate this upcoming Spring majoring in Education. As a Gator, Pardoe has been a part of the lacrosse and soccer programs since entering Notre Dame of Maryland University as a freshman in 2016.

While playing soccer and lacrosse, Pardoe has had quite the accomplished career in her four years of being a Gator. As a soccer player she led her team as a two year captain her junior and senior seasons. As an underclassman, she received Most Valuable Player recognitions her sophomore year. In her junior and senior seasons, Pardoe was given the Coaches Award for the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 years. Within the Colonial States Athletic Conference, Pardoe was recognized as an honorable mention her senior soccer season (2019). Under the NCAA, Pardoe was given credit as being the NCAA Top 5 Ranked saves per game and NCAA 6th ranked total saves. As a lacrosse player, Pardoe was also a two year captain leading her team to a conference championship in 2019. Additionally, she was recognized by the CSAC as being Second Team All-Conference.

Despite being a dominant leader on the field in her respective sports, Pardoe is also an accomplished student and leader within the community. This is seen by holding a cumulative GPA of 3.4 while participating in two sports her entire four years. She is currently the Vice President for the Gators Teach Club, which is an association for aspiring educators. In 2019, Pardoe was awarded the Promising Teachers Award for her hard work and dedication in the classroom. Pardoe's effort was also recognized by the CSAC by being included in the All-Academic Team.

Throughout her entire four years of being successful on the field and in the classroom, Pardoe also maintained part-time jobs. One of those jobs included being a coach for the local club team, Soccer Shots.

In the Future, Pardoe plans to return to Notre Dame for another year in pursuit of a Masters in Teaching, focusing on Elementary Education.

Senior Interview

What was the best part about being a student-athlete?

The best part about being a student athlete is the instant sense of support and family you get from your team and coaches. As soon as you become part of the team you instantly have a whole group of people that are there for you for whatever you need and it is amazing.

What is one lesson or take away you will have from being a student-athlete at Notre Dame?

There is a lot that I can take away from being a student athlete. One thing is how to balance my priorities and to set goals for myself. Another is the importance of having a good foundation and with that anything can grow.

What is your favorite memory with your team?

This is hard because I have so many different memories with both of my teams. One that definitely sits on top is the 2019 Lacrosse CSAC playoff. We started as an underdog during the tournament. First game we won with an overtime comeback win and then the championship game. The whole team during it all played our hearts out and that's something I will never forget.  For soccer we were such a strong growing group that was reaching our potential. For the first time in a long time we made playoffs and the excitement that everyone had was a great time. Also, being the first person to score a goal against Cabrini was pretty awesome!

How has your life changed since attending NDMU?

NDMU has changed my life in so many ways that I am grateful for. I have made some lifelong friends and memories. It has taught me to step back and enjoy the time that I have because these were some of the fastest four years of my life and I loved every minute of them!

Why did you choose to become a Gator?

I chose NDMU because it was a small, close community. NDMU allowed me the chance to play both of the sports that I love while getting an unbeatable education.

What is your favorite memory at NDMU?

I have so many unforgettable memories from Notre Dame it's hard to pick just one. One of my favorite memories is probably from the team bonding events that we did. For example, one from soccer is the Mario Kart tournament we did. And of course the bus rides are always really fun memories.
