ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Wilson College softball team was the top pick of the coaches in the 2021 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) softball preseason poll released on Wednesday afternoon.
The Phoenix, who captured the CSAC championship during the 2019 season, received 98 points and one first-place vote. Cedar Crest College and Keystone College were tied for second with 82 points each, while Cedar Crest received one first-place vote. The Falcons advanced to the championship game in 2019.
Centenary University received 76 points good enough for fourth place, while Saint Elizabeth University was fifth with 59 points, followed by Rosemont College in sixth with 23 points and Cairn University sitting in seventh place with 43 points.
Notre Dame of Maryland University was in eighth with 30 points, followed by Clarks Summit University (20 points) and The University of Valley Forge (12 points).
Conference play starts Wednesday, March 24. The matchups scheduled for that day are Rosemont at Clarks Summit and Wilson at Valley Forge. The rest of the conference is scheduled to start on Saturday, March 27, with Centenary at Valley Forge, Cedar Crest at Rosemont, Clarks Summit at Notre Dame and Wilson at Saint Elizabeth. Cairn is scheduled to host Keystone on Sunday, March 28.
The 2021 CSAC Championship, which will feature the top five teams, is slated to start on Wednesday, May 5 with a first-round game featuring the fifth seed at the fourth seed. The winner of that contest will advance to the championship weekend, hosted by the number one seed, scheduled to start on Friday, May 7. The double elimination tournament concludes on Saturday, May 8. The winner of the tournament will receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
